What are tracts?
Many religious folks like to spread their ideas by distributing small pamphlets called tracts. They set them out in gas station bathrooms, doctor’s offices, workplace break rooms, and anywhere else they think random strangers might pick them up and become exposed to their ideas.
If they can do it, so can we, right? I’ve started handing out tracts of my own, but rater than scaring or threatening people into agreeing with me, my tracts are aimed at opening conversations and encouraging people to think for themselves. Every one of them includes the URL for this website so the reader can see what I’m about and contact me with questions. I also haven’t left them sitting around just anywhere. (Not yet, anyway. I may change my mind.) I usually hand them out to people who visit our public appearances.
Can I get some?
I’m not in the publishing business at this time, but I might be willing to send you some tracts if you ask nice and your cause is just.
I read one, and I think…
If you have any questions or comments about the tracts or their contents, send me a note at editor@doubtland.com.
Informational tracts
“How to Witness to Atheists: A guide written by atheists for Christians who want to share their faith.”
So many Christians have never had a real conversation with an actual atheist. Bogged down by misinformation, they end up wasting their breath, or worse, they turn into angry shouters. This tract shows a better way.
“Religion is Silly” tracts
This will soon be a series of tracts sharing a common theme. Each tract asks a question, just like a standard religious tract might. It then answers the question by saying, “Don’t Be Silly!”
After a light-hearted look at the silliness of the question, each tract will ask readers to pledge themselves to lives of truth and reason.
Will you burn in Hell?
This is the first in the series. This tracts addresses the common idea of Hell and shows why it’s not really convincing.
Upcoming titles in the “Silly” series:
“Am I a Sinner?”
“Can Jesus Save Me?”
